Well, after bucking a 32 year tradition, we returned to Skala Potamia after having a magical time on our first visit last year. This time we took our 20 year old son and his girlfriend who are not disco/bar fly types. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, but although we did, I felt that the magic had gone. Why do Greeks have to drive everywhere??? We noted a massive increase of Greeks driving about in their big cars, just to go from the beach to the taverna (1km at most???).
We noted that the best tavernas are still Megas Alexandrous, Nautilos, Flysvos, Green Sea and Alkyonis. We went to our little English bar this year to re-unite with the nice English couple at the Sun and Moon, but she has left to return to UK. He (Colin) says it was because she missed her family, but I noticed the young well developed girl in the background. Rumour has it that she has moved in with Colin (she 17 yrs, him 48 yrs) and that the English community has spurned him. This was corroborated when we spotted them having dinner and canoodling in Nautilus!!! He speaks about selling the S&M and is thinking about competing with Eric and opening a sports bar called Chelsea(?) That is one thing that Skala Potamia does not need, a lager lout bar dedicated to sports. Bad move, Col.....
This year we again stayed at the Souzana Studios and were treated to the same style and courtesy as last year. Tasos is still behind the bar, although he did make a few appearances at Alex's taverna when he lost some staff (leaving the studios bar unmanned and closed for 3 days on the trot). Not good form, but understandable. He may not be there next year as Alex's girlfriend seems to be taking a more hands on approach to staffing and business situations. On the whole, Skala and Souzana had not suffered at the hands of increased tourism, but ( according to Tasos) it is only a matter of time before Skala is swamped by tourism; and that will be a great shame.

What a shame you didnt ask Colin about his sleeping arrangements while you were in Thassos, instead of posting the rumours/asumptions on a public website.
Im sure he'll give you a warm welcome if ever you go back.

So why was the magic gone ? From your post its not Thassos ?
Been going for a long time (not pulling rank) and S Pot has hardly changed in 10 years.

Yes Greeks drive everywhere , just like Engish mothers on the school run, but the they always have.

To save causing more hurt I think its best that the gossip references are quickly edited out..

To clarify the gossip Planet earth is Blue the references are that you are possibly a Chelsea supporter.

Only kidding .. as at 27th I wish the real Blues and not the Pensioners had maximum points.

Bit near the mark though from Tg. Those comments regarding guy from Sun and Moon need to be deleted but they were extremely interesting. Perhaps a Gossip Forum could be created as long as the identities of those involved could be kept secret . It would have to be better than Emmerdale Coronation Street and all the other T.V. soaps..
